Bolton Wanderers have confirmed the signing of Nigerian footballer Chinedu Obasi on a free transfer.
The 31-year-old has joined the Trotters until the end of the season after having impressed in his trial with the Under 23 side against Burnley last week. The Nigerian was afforded just half an hour in a weather-interrupted match with the reserve team, and he made the most of his opportunity by scoring the winner.
Obasi, who had last played for AIK in Sweden, had maintained the stance that he would not claim wages unless he returns to competitive action, and it appears that the marksman will now have the chance to make an impact in Bolton’s relegation fight.
