Bolton Wanderers manager Owen Coyle has said that the rumours linking him with a move for Chelsea midfielder Oriol Romeu are well beyond the mark. The 20-year-old former Barcelona midfielder joined Chelsea in the summer last season.
However, he has found first-team opportunities extremely limited after Chelsea changed their manager midway through the season. He initially struggled to get opportunities under Andre Villas-Boas, but was getting regular opportunities during the Christmas period. The arrival of Roberto di Matteo, though, once again limited his opportunities in the first-team. As a result, it is thought that Chelsea are looking to send the youngster on a loan deal in order to help him gain experience.
A number of Chelsea players have been on loan at Bolton Wanderers in previous seasons. The most prominent ones have been Daniel Sturridge and Gael Kakuta. However, Bolton Wanderers manager Owen Coyle, who is looking to help bring the team back to the Premier league in the first instance, has said that there is no truth in the rumours linking Bolton with a move for Oriol Romeu. Chelsea have been spending a lot of money on new players, which has meant that there will be extreme competition for places at Stamford Bridge this season.
"I'm sure the stuff with Romeu came up because of the relationship we have with Chelsea but sometimes people put two and two together and make five. There is no doubt that if there are players available on loan from Chelsea that Bolton Wanderers would be in the mix but there's got to be an understanding of the level, depending on the player," said Owen Coyle in response to the rumours linking him with a move for Chelsea midfielder Oriol Romeu, who won the Champions League title with Chelsea last season.
