POSITIVE RESPONSE NEEDED

The Bolton Wanderers manager Owen Coyle has said that the players should be showing a positive response to the 2-0 defeat suffered at the hands of Burnley on the opening day of the new Championship season.

Bolton Wanderers were relegated from the Premier league after more than a decade of top flight football. However, they have decided to retain their manager Owen Coyle with a view of returning to the Premier league in the first instance. They began the life in the Championship in the worst possible manner after a 2-0 defeat against Owen Coyle's former employers.

After the match, the Bolton Wanderers manager Owen Coyle said that he was extremely disappointed with the result and that he is looking forward to getting a positive response from his players when they take on Derby next week. Due to the fact that Bolton will be facing the likes of Birmingham, Watford and Hull city in the first few matches of the campaign, it is vital that they pick up the maximum points against Derby. After leaving a number of high profile players leave in the summer, Owen Coyle is looking to assemble a squad that will not only be capable of achieving promotion, but also good enough to play in the Premier league as well.

“We need a big positive reaction to our second half performance on Saturday. We have to be ready for how tough and demanding the Championship is and ready for how hard teams work. If we match that, then we believe we have enough quality to win these games. Derby are a good side with some terrific players, as they’ve shown in the opening games of the season. They’ve scored a lot of goals, in the cup tie against Scunthorpe and the weekend’s game against Sheffield Wednesday," said Coyle.
