Bolton Wanderers have let two of their players i.e. Arran Lee Barrett (England) and Andre Moritz (Brazil) go. Both had been signed by the club last summer for just one season and neither of them was able to get a contract extension.
Moritz’s release has come as a surprise for a few of the Wanderers fans as he had featured regularly in the last season and had performed decently. In the 27 matches that he had played, he had found the back of the net on 7 occasions.
Barrett, on the other hand, didn’t get as many playing opportunities. He, in fact, didn’t play even one match for the senior team of the Wanderers. So, his release can be understood, but, Moritz’s contract was supposed to be extended.
Actually, both these guys were speaking with the management regarding the fresh deal, but, they eventually didn’t agree to the terms and conditions provided by the Wanderers and decided to part their ways.
Bolton released a statement yesterday confirming the departure of Moritz and Barrett. That statement read, “Moritz and Barrett are not the players of Bolton Wanders anymore. Both have been released. The Club is grateful to them for their services and conveys them the best wishes for the remaining days of their career.”
Bolton Wanderers had not had a great time in the second tier of English football last season. They had ended up at the 14th position in the table. They had only 59 points in the bag at the completion of all their 46 matches.
Bolton secured only 14 wins in the competition, while, suffered 15 defeats. The rest 17 matches were draws. Their fans would certainly be hoping to see a drastic improvement in their performance next season.
