Bolton Set For New Signings

Bolton Wanderers have already made one signing in the form of Leicester City’s Neil Danns. The player will arrive at the club at the start of the new season on a 12 month deal. Now, they are looking set to announce the second signing, as manager Dougie Freedman is looking to challenge a play-off place next season. Freedman has been speaking about the potential transfer targets into the new season. Without revealing the identity of the player, he said a few weeks ago that Bolton will sign a player who will be an absolute steal.

Bolton are set to bring in Liam Trotter as their second major arrival. Trotter has been playing for Millwall in the last two seasons. He will join Bolton on a two-year contract. Bolton managed to avoid relegation comfortably towards the end of the season. They secured their championship status after taking 59 points in the 46 matches. Freedman will be looking to make a difference of around 20 points in order to reach the play-off places next season. Returning back to the Premier league will be crucial for Bolton, who are struggling with a mountain of debt.
Even though the championship is a rewarding league in terms of finances, it cannot match the £ 70 million provided by the Premier league in a year.

“Whoever signs him this summer – it will be a steal! He’s adaptable, he can play behind the main striker or that deeper role in front of the back four, and at 24, he’s only going to get better with time. I really am pleased he’s settling at the club and if we can get something done in the summer then the fans will see more improvement, I’m sure of that,” said the manager two weeks ago. The transfer fee of the player has not been revealed yet.
