Carlisle United have announced as per their official website that they have agreed on a deal that will see them extend the contract of star defender Rhys Bennett. The announcement comes after some weeks of discussion and contract negotiations which involved the player and his agent. He will now stay with the Cumbrians till at least the end of the current campaign.
The player himself is enjoying life at the club as he has been given plenty of time on the pitch to prove just how good he is. At 29 years of age, Bennett is still in his peak years and has notched up 11 appearances for Carlisle since he secured a move to the Lake District.
At the heart of the defence is not the only place where he has contributed, as he also has three goals to his name so far this season. He has been indeed remarkable and unstoppable, hence, the rush to pin him down to a fresh deal.
The club's head coach Chris Beech praised the defender after the renewal and claimed that the deal is one that will go down well with the fans of the club. Beech also expressed his delight at the defender's decision to put pen to paper on a new deal despite speculations surrounding his future recently.
Bennett will be looking to continue his fine form after finally putting the minds of the supporters at rest.
