Bolton Wanderers manager Keith Hill has appreciated the performance of his team during the 0-0 draw against Accrington Stanley at the weekend. The Trotters had gone into the game on a five-match losing run but they managed to put up a solid defensive display to claim their first clean sheet in nearly a month.
The Trotters have been languishing at the bottom of the table since the beginning of the campaign where they were nearly ousted from the Football League due to financial concerns. They were able to preserve their League One status with a takeover prior to the deadline but that came with a price as they were deducted 12 points.
As a result, they find themselves 21 points behind safety at the moment and barring a miracle of sorts, they are destined to drop down to League Two next season. The season has been unsettled with the constant chopping and changing of players but things should get back to normal next term, considering they have a couple of months for planning this summer. Bolton are scheduled to face AFC Wimbledon on the road in Saturday’s league game. The reverse meeting at Bolton’s homeground ended in a 2-2 draw.
