The manager of Bolton Wanderers, Dougie Freedman, has said that his defenders have carried extra burden on their shoulders in the ongoing season so far and somehow, he needs to make sure that they get some rest.
Three of Bolton’s key defenders have been out of action since a while because of their respective injuries and as a result of that, the remaining fit defenders have been featuring continuously for the Trotters without any rest.
The only way Freedman can give rest to his defenders is by bringing in new faces at the Reebok Stadium in the mid season transfer window, but, his problem is that he hasn’t got the budget for that. However, he can look for a couple of loan signings.
Talking to the reporters yesterday about the pressure on his defenders, Freedman said, “I feel for them really. It’s not easy at all to feature in each and every match no matter how good your fitness is. They need to be given rest and I am trying to ensure that they get rest, but, it’s not easy for me to make signings. I have to consider the budget and all those things.”
“At this point of time, my priority is to try and sign a couple of guys on loan. Let’s see if I manage to do that.”
Bolton’s financial situation might improve a little bit if they offload some of their big guys who are making huge amount of money at the club. But, it doesn’t seem that they are interested in doing so.
Bolton is currently not at a good position in the Championship points table. They have got only 27 in their points’ tally after 24 games and are placed at no. 18. Their goal differential is also negative i.e. -5.
