Bolton Wanderers captain Kevin Davies is the latest to pay tribute to former Bolton Wanderers player Gary Speed, who recently passed away, aged just 42.
Gary Speed was found in his house and is thought to have committed suicide. Tributes have been flowing in from all around the world, and current Bolton Wanderers captain Kevin Davies is the latest to do so.
Gary Speed was an important part of the Bolton Wanderers team from 2004 to 2007. His death comes as a major shock to the football world. Many regard Gary Speed to be an excellent professional both on and off the field.
Kevin Davies has been quick to reiterate these thoughts. Speaking to an British newspaper after the news of the incident, Kevin Davies said "Gary was very good in the dressing room and everyone got along with him. He was perhaps the ultimate professional, a born winner who always gave his all. It's a shock that he's gone, and I am finding it hard to come to terms with it all."
Speed was the Wales national team manager having taken over the role in 2010. He played for the likes of Leeds United, Newcastle, Everton, and Bolton Wanderers before eventually announcing his retirement in 2009. He is regarded as one of the finest players to have come out of the Leeds United side of the early 1990s.
He worked as the player manager for the Welsh national team before announcing his retirement for the national team as well. It was very much thought that he would move into club management after spending a few years managing the national team. He had been extremely successful with Wales having won five games on the bounce, including the 4-1 win over Norway recently. This news comes as a shock for everyone as much as Kevin Davies.
