CHARACTER AND QUALITY

The Bolton Wanderers manager Dougie Freedman has said that he is extremely delighted with the character and quality shown by the players in the recent match against Birmingham city.

Bolton Wanderers looked like suffering yet another defeat in a match after Birmingham have taken the lead through a goal from Zigic after just 11 min on the clock. Due to the fact that both are coming into the encounter on the back of two consecutive defeats, things appeared to go from bad to worse for Freedman and his team in the initial stages of the match.

However, Bolton managed a stunning comeback starting with the goal by Marcus Alonso after 27 min on the clock. Chung-Yong Lee's goal in the 37th minute helped Bolton going to the half-time break with the lead, while they secured the three points in the 79th minute after a penalty from Keith Andrews. As a result of this victory, they now have 32 points on the board from the 26 matches. The result is also extremely positive for the club given that they have now finished the 2012 year on a positive note. Freedman has said that he is hoping that the club can build on the success and form shown in this match.

"The players showed courage when we went 1-0 down, and all credit to them. It’s difficult to make up the ground when you have conceded, but we have shown in games that we have the mental strength and desire to do just that. We know teams will come to the Reebok and sit back against us, and we have to get used to that. I would like to thank the fans for the support," said the manager. Bolton will be facing Leeds United in the Championship in the first game of 2013.
