Bolton Wanderers teenager attracting Premier League interest

Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester United and Everton are among the key clubs vying for the signature of Bolton Wanderers wonderkid Max Broughton this summer.

The Trotters will be plying their trade in next season’s Championship after having clinched a runner-up finish to Sheffield United in League One.

Broughton, 16, represented the Trotters’ Under-18 side during the 2016/17 campaign, and his performances appeared to have captured the attention of several Premier League clubs. The teenager has not made a competitive appearance for the senior side, but it is understood that Phil Parkinson would integrate him into the squad, should he stay put for the upcoming Championship season.

According to The Mail, Spurs, United and Everton had watched the youngster closely in action during the course of the previous season, and they are now prepared to fight it out for his services in the summer transfer window. Bolton lost a key player in Rob Holding to Arsenal last year, and the Englishman has since made a notable impact for the Gunners following their shift to the three-at-the-back formation.

Preferably Broughton could continue his development at Bolton, who are likely to promise him valuable playing time in the coming years, but a chance to work with one of Premier League’s elite, though at a junior level, does not come often.

The have produced notable talents from their academy who have excelled in their respective lineups, and Broughton could have the chance to develop himself further at a higher level of competition.

Bolton Wanderers have never hit the heights in the Championship since their near playoff disappointment four years ago, and Parkinson’s first aim would be to stabilise the club in the Championship following a dismal points tally last time which saw them drop to the League One for the first time in 24 years.
