Phil Parkinson claims that Bolton Wanderers should make the most out of an extended break that they have received as a result of the game with Sheffield United been postponed.
Bolton were involved in the cup game at Crystal Palace in the midweek action. Even though they lost the FA Cup third-round replay against the Premier League outfit, Parkinson was more concerned about his team’s chances in the league. The break does provide a great opportunity for Bolton to recover their form.
After having been title contenders for much of the campaign, there is a threat of Bolton’s campaign being derailed by poor form at the worst possible time. The club are yet to win any game in 2017 after having been involved in two draws and two defeats. The club’s next match is against Charlton Athletic at home on January 28.
“Looking at it from a positive view it had been a very busy week, with the Palace game1 and all, and the fact we didn’t play Saturday does give the players a little bit of time to recharge the batteries. We had lunch down there and I said to the players afterwards that we have got to get ourselves completely prepared now, take this little break and come back ready for a hard slog ahead. There are no distractions now, no cup competitions, no breaks, we have to get ourselves ready to push on now for the rest of the season,” said Parkinson.
