BOLTON CRASH 1-0 TO WALSALL IN LEAGUE ONE

Bolton wanderers lost to Walsall in the English League One game played over the weekend.

The game is peculiar as it ends the unbeaten run of the Wanderers this term. Shot stopper for the host Neil Etheridge put up an outstanding performance, helping the team reduced to 10 men get a well-prized victory.

Bolton didn’t do too badly, and the early red card against the opposition spurred them on rather than weaken them. Walsall were a man down from as early as the 16th minute when Joe Edwards was shown a straight red card. Edwards earned the matching orders when he gave Chris Taylor an elbow as they battled for the ball midair. Bolton were happy with the move, as it seemed like one that would weaken their opponents and keep their unbeaten run. Little did they know what would happen next.

Ten-man Walsall side kept the pressure up and were rewarded in the 25th minute when Bolton goalkeeper Mark Howard didn’t deal with a Kieron Morris free kick well enough. Walsall’s Jason McCarthy latched onto the ball, sending the ball to the open net.
The goal ensured Bolton pushed for a quick equalizer. They came really close few minutes after conceding but Lewis Buxton header was cleared. Both sides went on recess. Bolton continued pushing for an equalizer but Etheridge kept them at bay. David Wheater and Taylor were closest, yet the goalkeeper stopped their attempts.

Bolton’s misery compounded when a substitute Keshi Anderson received a red card in the stoppage time. He entered the game of play prematurely, receiving his first yellow. Then he picked up a last minute yellow for a foul on Scott Laird. He did try to put pressure on the host but the red card just messed things up moving forward.
